Attention Recession Shira Kedem S/S
“Attention Recession” is a cultural response to the collapse of stability after the 2008 financial crisis. As Gen Z inherited a world of economic precarity and constant digital stimulation, our ability to focus, dream long-term, or commit deeply began to erode. Drenched in overstimulation, we cope through distraction—scrolling, multitasking, consuming—but rarely slowing down. This collection explores the emotional debris of a generation wired to survive chaos, not clarity.
A study in tension and texture, this look pairs low-rise gunmetal waxed denim skinnies with sculptural wire embedded into the side seams, creating a crumpled, paper-like distortion that shifts with the body. The pants are grounded yet unruly—equal parts armor and collapse. On top, a deconstructed three-piece silk jersey knit ensemble plays with asymmetry and layering: a cropped dolman sleeve top drapes over a slashed, fitted underlayer, with a hanging raw hem tail, anchored by a gathered hip wrap. Together, the look captures a post-crisis silhouette—one that clings, folds, and reforms under pressure.
A take on the classic leather jacket, this piece is sharply fitted through the body with sculptural princess seams. Crafted from soft lambskin leather recycled scraps, the garment reclaims waste with precision and intention. Its silhouette is disrupted by a voluminous cowl neck that pools with deliberate excess, contrasted by an asymmetrical raw hem and an off-center assymetrical zip that skews the balance.
This off-the-shoulder cable knit dress embraces fluid layering and structural play, crafted entirely from an upcycled men’s sweater. Organic, overlapping shapes cascade across the body, creating movement and dimension without excess. A separate wishbone-shaped piece sits over the hip, allowing the wearer to manipulate the scrunch and silhouette of the dress.
This look plays with the tension between exposure and construction. A sheer silk jersey top drapes from an oversized boat neck, slipping into an effortlessly slouchy off-the-shoulder silhouette. Fitted through the waist and hips, it contours the body with merrow-edge cross-stitch detailing and deliberately exposed, “inside-out” seams—fragile yet intentional. It’s paired with cotton jersey microshorts that blur the line between underwear and outerwear, trimmed with delicate lace peeking from the hem and waistband. Asymmetrical belt loops shift the structure, forcing any belt worn to sit diagonally.
